Shindengen Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has expanded its lineup with the MG031 Series power modules for drive of 3 phase brushless DC motors such as in automotive electric power steering (EPS).
The 3 “MG031E120004A”, “MG031L080006A”, and “MG031N110006A” types are MOSFET power modules for motor drive. The 2 “MG031MC148004A” and “MG031MD110006A” types are MOSFET power modules for phase separation relays to isolate the motor from the inverter.
Combining these products allows for creation of motor drive + phase separation relay circuits, which can contribute to lighter weight and more compact electro-mechanical EPS.
In addition to VDSS=40V products for passenger vehicle applications, we also offer VDSS=60V products for commercial vehicle applications with more advanced electrification.
We are currently shipping samples of these new products with sales expected to begin in September 2021.

These products allow for creation of motor drive + phase separation relay circuits from just 2 power modules, achieving a 40% reduction in mounting area compared to similar circuits composed of 9 discrete MOSFET. In addition, combining with use of high heat dissipation modules to downsize heat dissipation systems makes it possible to construct motor drive + phase separation relay circuits in the limited space of electro-mechanical EPS.
Suitable application examples include drive of 3 phase brushless DC motors for automotive oil pumps, water pumps, and other auxiliary systems in addition to EPS
