EPC and uPI Semiconductor are partnering to offer the uP1966 GaN half-bridge driver to the markets.

The uP1966E is an 85 V dual-channel gate driver designed to drive both high-side and low-side eGaN® FETS in half-bridge and full-bridge topologies. The driver integrates an internal bootstrap supply and UVLO in a small 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm WLCSP form factor.

On one end of the computing world the GPUs and CPUs never stop intensifying the performance, while on the other efficiency and balanced cost is the key. uPI is endeavored to develop power solutions that satisfied both ends. A recent launch of a series of PWM controllers – uP9511uP9509uP9510 and uP1666 are the perfect examples of adaptive designs for different segments. From dual-phase to eight-phase PWM controllers, all with designated 1.8V PWM VID interface for the new generation GPU, which is widely used for standalone graphic cards and gaming notebook applications.

uP9511, an eight-phase PWM controller in QFN5x5 package, is featured by its efficiency-driven auto phase shedding function; the cold-boot and warm-boot schemes further provide an easy power tuning for extreme gaming GPUs. To fit in different high-end/gaming graphic designs, uP9511 is designed with flexibility – either upgrade to sixteen-phase operation with phase-extension drivers, or pair with high-performance power stage such as dual-N MOS, or DrMOS.

uP9510 & uP9509 both integrated PWM controller and MOS drivers in one chip, leaving more air in either desktop or notebook system. The PSI (Power Saving Interface) provides multiple mode selections for efficiency consideration. These two-phases controllers can also be upgraded to three-phase ones with an external gate driver.

uP1666 integrates PWM controller and two MOS drivers in a compact QFN3x3-20L package, while functionality are not compromised by multi-functional pins, this two-phases controller handles most of the basic power rails such as memory power on graphic cards.

To support total power solution, uPI also provides the “accessory” selection, such as PWMVID console, single/dual MOS drivers, phase-extension drivers, even specialized power stage solution in the upcoming roadmap.
